Vejle has a unique place in history. The Danish nation was born and created in Jelling. The Jelling monuments with the runic stones, the two large mounds, the church, the world’s largest stone ship and an impressive palisade fence are among the world’s most significant monuments and are included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
The area around Vejle is known for its beautiful nature with the fjord, the beech forests, the river valleys and a hilly terrain. The hilly landscape and numerous climbs in and around Vejle make the area ideal for road cycling races, and the roads are the best in Denmark when it comes to gradients and vertical meters. Since 2004, Vejle has been the finish destination of the most difficult stage of the Tour of Denmark, the so-called Queen Stage, with “Kiddesvej” as the crucial climb.
Vejle is Denmark’s best shopping city and offers many exiting attractions and beautiful architecture. In the area near the harbour, a new and attractive town has risen, which attracts many new citizens and tourists.
